How To Become a Christian

Becoming a Christian

We’re so glad you took the time to visit this part of our web site. But please understand that you didn’t come here by accident. Jesus loves you very much, and He is inviting you to come to Him for forgiveness and eternal life.

People today tend to determine who is good and who is not by what they do. But God says that none of us has ever been able to live a good enough life to get into heaven. All of us have sinned, and even the smallest sin is enough to separate you from God.

For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. (Romans 3:23 ESV)

Well, maybe you figured that you’re just not good enough to come to God. You think that you need to get your life turned around and become a better person before God will have anything to do with you. But God made a way for you to come to Him even before you knew He existed.

But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. (Romans 5:8 ESV)

God doesn’t care what kind of person you are. He wants you to come to Him just the way you are because He loves you.

He saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to his own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit. (Titus 3:5 ESV)

You see, God is inviting you to come to Him because He is gracious, not because you’re a good person. All of your efforts to clean up your life are wasted. You can’t work your way into Heaven. There is no way for you to earn Heaven. The fact is, it’s a free gift.

For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.(Ephesians 2:8-9 ESV)

Now just because God is gracious doesn’t mean that He ignores your sin. He can’t ignore it because He is also a just God. And because He is a just God, your sins must be punished before you can come to Him. But instead of making you bear the punishment yourself, He gave you the gift of His Son to bear the punishment for you.

For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 6:23 ESV)

Jesus bore the punishment for your sins so that you don’t have to. He died a terrible death on the cross as payment in full for your sin debt. But Jesus didn’t stay dead. God brought Him back to life as proof that He’ll do the same for you.

He has opened the door to Heaven for you. All you have to do right now is reach out and accept the free gift of salvation that God is offering you when He brought you to this web page.

Because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.(Romans 10:9-10 ESV)

All you need to do is accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior and dedicate yourself to obeying what He says in the Bible. Then believe with all your heart that He paid the penalty for your sins and that God raised Him from the dead and that He is in Heaven right now preparing a place for you.

If you will do that, then you will be with Him in glory throughout eternity. Death will not be the end. It will just be the beginning of a new life in Heaven.

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.(John 3:16)

Are you ready to accept the free gift of eternal life that Jesus is offering you right now? If you are, then you need to bow your head right this minute and ask Jesus to forgive you of your sins and take control of your life. Not tomorrow. Right now! The exact words aren’t important. Jesus is more intersted in what’s in your heart than He is in what you say. Just tell Him that you recognize the fact that you are a sinner and that you know that you can’t possibly be good enough on your own to get into Heaven. Then believe with all your heart that Jesus paid the penalty for your sin and that He is alive right now in Heaven preparing a place for you. Then go out and live like you do believe it. Place your trust in Him for your salvation and your life, and agree to be obedient to His Word from now on.
